In a break with tradition, Smeg has launched a range of ovens and compact ovens/microwaves that departs from the company’s classic stainless steel styling of the past 20 years and enters the realm of the futuristic, with high tech controls, sleek mirrored glass panels and intuitive electronics.

The collection of Linear ovens and compact ovens is a direct response to consumer hunger for next generation design and performance. These ovens have pared back exteriors – clean, straight lines; flush, sleek fascias and luminous controls – and feature-rich performance.

Designed to take centre stage in tomorrow’s kitchens – partnering perfectly with the stones, metallics and veneers at the forefront of domestic kitchen design – the Linear collection creates a new benchmark in kitchen appliance performance and aesthetics.

The SCA112X is a stand-out performer in the Linear collection – a 60cm wide oven finished in a choice of white, black or stainless steel mirror panels that delivers nine cooking modes (plus a defrost setting) with an intuitive electronic control panel (including temperature) that is fully programmable.

Cooking functions and pre set menus, once selected, change from bright white illumination to a beautiful orange before proceeding to offer further options and recommendations, including the correct shelf position.

Everything about the SCA112X – from the Smeg Thermoseal energy saving oven and triple glazed door with forced air cooling to the independent carcase cooling system and ceramic insulation is designed to ensure optimum food flavour and texture plus the highest performance in terms of energy conservation and ease of cleaning.

Thermoseal technology is designed to deliver fool-proof baking and grilling – temperatures are accurate and non-fluctuating and the oven is completely sealed so meats and fish remain succulent and pastries and cakes don’t suffer due to hot spots.
The Linear range also includes compact ovens – only 45cm high – that combine a microwave oven with a convection oven or grill or as a stand alone multi-function oven. There is also a pyrolytic, self-cleaning version of the SCA112X.

The Smeg SCA112X is tomorrow’s oven, available today, at department stores and electrical retail outlets throughout Australia. The appliance retails for about $2790 and carries a two year in home warranty on parts and labour.
